An Image title with "spicy" variant covers
Maria Llovet is a creator already known for her sensual, sexual stories and images. But things are about to get even hotter with a series of “spicy” variant covers running on Image Comics‘ Artificial. While I give her credit for if she's capable of standing firm on the spice in an era where PC damaged such ideas, it's still a shame that, in addition to monthly pamphlets remaining the common format, they have to rely on variants instead of say, putting them inside the comic, or better yet, on a wall painting. Even publishers for creator-owned products shouldn't have to rely on an approach that's turned the industry into a joke. And one can reasonably wonder if a man drawing such imagery would have the guts it takes these days to stand by stories built on sensuality as Llovet may.
Written and drawn by Llovet, the new four-issue series focuses on, per PR from the publisher, “a fashion stylist disillusioned with love, turns to a futuristic dating service that offers lifelike android partners. But when her dream lover glitches into a possessive stalker, she finds herself trapped in a game of desire, control, and survival.”
Each issue, along with a main cover by Llovet which is already pretty spicy, and other variants, will have a “spicy” variant by Llovet which put the “thrill” in erotic thriller.
